What is Marble?

Marble may be also known as crystalline limestone. Marble is formed from crystallized limestone through heat and pressure in the earth's crust causing the change in texture and makeup. Different temperatures and other variables such as water and the presence of minerals can alter the color or general quality of the marble. Present minerals resulting from impurities give marble a wide variety of colors. For example, pure calcite marble is white, marble with hematite has a reddish color, while marble with limonite is yellow, and marble containing serpentine is green.
